Original Irish Tunes

As one of Irish music's most prolific composers, Collected is the first compilation of Liz's life work, 185 tunes that draw as their inspiration Liz's heritage and the influence of being a first generation Irish-American.

TG4, Ireland's Irish language television station, has honored Liz with the Cumadóir TG4. This makes Liz the first American-born composer so honored in the award's history. Liz was presented with the award as part of the TG4 Gradam Ceoil 2011 (Traditional Music Awards), in ceremonies on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the Wexford Opera House.

Since she was 18, when she astounded the Celtic music world by winning the Senior All-Ireland Championship, Liz and her fiddle have been amazing audiences around the globe. In recent years, she has been honored with many accolades, including the nomination for a 2010 Grammy, with John Doyle, for their duet album, "Double Play." And in April of 2011, Liz was awarded the Cumadóir TG4, the first American-born composer honored with Ireland's most significant traditional music prize.

In 1994, the National Endowment for the Arts awarded Liz a National Heritage Fellowship for her great influence on Irish music in America, as a performer and a composer. First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton presented the award which bestows national recognition on artists of international stature.

185 tunes are in "Collected," many of which have been recorded by Liz on her solo albums, and on her recordings with John Doyle, Trian, Cherish the Ladies, and by other artists including Solas, Dervish and Sharon Shannon.
